Art for You - online exhibition and a mailed personal performance

"Art for You" consisted of an online exhibition of framed postcard sized collage.
These could be purchased for a fee. The selected work was then mailed to the purchaser along with a script for a set of actions that the purchaser could perform at home.

Three examples of collages purchased and the Art for You - Action that went with the work/s follow :

ART FOR YOU / ACTION
SETTING THE SCENE:  To perform the action and record your discoveries: Have to hand a journal or paper + media for drawing or collage and/or writing e.g. pens, pencils, paints,
ACTION: Your action is to explore what your body knows (but may have forgotten) about being a child
  1. Stand comfortably at an edge of your clear space. Remove the three feathers from the Art for You envelope. Take 3 deep breaths. Relax body and mind. Read the following poem, out loud, or in your heart :
All along the backwater,
Through the rushes tall, Ducks are a-dabbling,
Up tails all!
Ducks’ tails, drakes’ tails,
Yellow feet a-quiver, Yellow bills all out of sight
Busy in the river!
Slushy green undergrowth
Where the roach swim — Here we keep our larder,
Cool and full and dim.
Everyone for what he likes!
We like to be Heads down, tails up,
Dabbling free!
High in the blue above
Swifts whirl and call — We are down a-dabbling
Up tails all!                                                                      Wind in the Willows – Kenneth Grahame
2. Now hold out your left hand on which you have placed the three feathers, take a deep breath and blow the feathers high into the air. Let your mind float, remember the wonder.
3. Without hurry, when you feel ready, take up your journal or paper and capture your discoveries in some form that feels right to you - drawing, mark making, mapping; painting a picture or an abstract expression. Re-capture the feathers and make them a part of your art. Allow intuition to guide your choice.
CONCLUDE Conclude your ART FOR YOU ACTION with some time to rest and have a cuppa of something you find refreshing; digest your discoveries and consider what wisdom your body/mind may be remembering …

SETTING THE SCENE
To perform the action: Have to hand journal or paper + media for drawing
and/or writing e.g. pens, pencils, paints and glue stick or similar
ACTION
Your action is to explore what your body knows (but may have forgotten) and responses to chance
1. Take the envelope marked CHANCE , without sorting or checking remove one strip of text and glue to a
sheet of paper or in your journal. Remove another strip of text and glue below the 1st. Repeat until all
seven strips of text form a poem on the page.
Take 3 deep breaths. Relax body and mind.
2. Take your poem for a walk to an open window, or outside to the garden, sit under a tree ….
read your poem out loud to the world.
3. When you feel ready, allow yourself time to think, maybe read the poem again. Reflect on the words
and receive whatever arises in body and mind - mental impressions, sensory experience, thoughts, memories,
insights ….
4. Without hurry, when you feel ready, take up your journal or paper and capture your discoveries a form
that feels right to you, drawing, mark making, painting a picture or an abstract pattern that will add to
your poem . Follow your intuition.

Take 3 deep breaths. Relax body and mind. Read the following poem, out loud, or in your heart :
My heart of silk
is filled with lights,
with lost bells,
with lilies and bees.
I will go very far,
farther than those hills,
farther than the seas,
close to the stars,
to beg Christ the Lord
to give back the soul I had
of old, when I was a child,
ripened with legends,
with a feathered cap
and a wooden sword.                                           Myself – Fredrico Garcia Lorca
