Fredrico García Lorca paintings & sculptureThis series of paintings and sculptures have been influenced by the art and the life and death of the Spanish poet and playwright Fredrico García Lorca, who at the age of 38, was assassinated by anti-republican rebels in August 1936 at the beginning of the Spanish civil war.
The sources of the influence have not only been the writings of Lorca but also Osvaldo Golijov's opera Ainadamar - Fountain of Tears (see youtube Part 1 - 27 min, Part 2 - 38 min, Part 3 - 8 min) and Ian Gibson's biography Fredrico García Lorca - A Life.
